SOO much has happened since we last met at TESAA in February. As all of you know by now, Elly has decided to retire and close TESAA. I, like most of you, felt bad thinking of missed opportunities to see you all again. First I was sad, then I was mad, and then I got going. Why let it end now? I have been attending TESAA for about 12 years, and coordinated the volunteers for over 8 years. I am a successful businesswoman and CFO for a major petroleum distributor. Why can't we, together, create a new annual tradition, and keep those friendships going, while learning new applique techniques? LET'S DO IT!
We have registered a new organization - "The Academy of Applique" in historic Williamsburg, VA. I was able to reserve the Kingsmill Resort for the week of March 2 - 8, 2015. This week immediately follows the Mid Atlantic Quilt Show weekend of February 28 - March 1, 2015. We are in the process of contracting teachers (you will be AMAZED who we got), sending out marketing information, and finishing the website. The website will be your "go to" location for all things Academy Of Applique (www.academyofapplique.com).
What can you do to help? Pass this on! EVERYONE can register at the website immediately, and will be notified when the site is completely "up" and running. Help me spread the word. Forward this to other appliquers, email me the name and address of your local quilt stores, email me the name and contact for your local guild . . . TALK IT UP! You can find us on Twitter, and Facebook under Academy of Applique. I look forward to hearing from you.
