Inspired by carpet at the Governor’s palace in Colonial Williamsburg. this block mimics the colors of the original carpet and expands on one of the elements of the design to create a visually appealing appliqué block that can be used alone or repeated in a multi-block quilt or wall-hanging.

The piece is worked in wool on a cotton background with the elements appliquéd with buttonhole and couching stitches.
