How has your summer been going?
How has your summer been going? Mine has been wonderful . . . and busy. The Academy of Applique has been such a fun and rewarding journey. I finally have the opportunity to combine by business acumen learned over MANY long years as a Finance Director, and my “hobby/obsession” quilting, and specifically, applique. Everyone has been SOOO supportive – there are not words to express my thanks to everyone. Friends and Attendees have helped me distribute literally tens of thousands of marketing postcards. The reception has been terrific. It is fun to watch marketing cards be sent or delivered to a specific area of the country, and within days, multiple sign ups on the website from that area. How exciting. The teachers, too, have been most gracious and sharing of their experiences, thoughts, and time. They truly are an amazing group. I want to send a special THANK YOU to Nancy Kerns and Teresa Jones for helping me through this first year, and letting me bounce ideas off them. You girls ROCK!
What are all of you working on? I would love pictures to post on this blog. I am still working thru Sue Garman’s Sarah’s Revival as well as the Benjamin Biggs Wedding Quilt. I should have Sarah’s Revival complete in the next month or so; then I am challenging myself to finish Sue Garman’s Lily Rosenberry quilt. I started this quilt in red and green . . .then fell in love with Sue’s version in pink and brown, and got conflicted. Do I have it in me to actually stitch TWO? Wait and see. I also have a William Morris quilt waiting patiently to be stitched.
Earlier this month, my husband and I were able to get the class schedule (with class descriptions and supply lists) up on the website on the date committed – OK, it was LATE that night, and granted there had been many midnight work sessions, but still the schedule was available on the commitment date. I am confident that next year this process will be much smoother. I have to say, though, aren’t the class projects AMAZING! The pictures are BEAUTIFUL, and I can’t wait to see these blocks in person at the Academy.
We are working out the last few details for evening programs, and the registration process . . . in anticipation of Tuesday, September 2nd when registration will open. HURRAY! If you haven’t had a chance yet, you might want to visit the website www.academyofapplique.com, click on the ‘CLASSES’ tab at the top, then click on the ‘REGISTRATION WORKSHEET.’ Complete the worksheet at your leisure with your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice of classes. There is no need to mail this worksheet, but it will definitely come in handy on September 2nd as you sit in front of your computer to register. Feel free to contact us if you have any requests, or need any help.
